Manuela is exploring a world full of opportunities

As a bank that operates worldwide, the skills and ambitions of our people can make a real difference in many areas of our diverse business. We passionately believe that any change of perspective, no matter how small, enriches an individual’s overall experience.

The opportunities to go far

Manuela is no stranger to managing change. She started her current role in Frankfurt after being in London working as a HR Project and Change Manager for a year.

“I did a two-year apprenticeship as a banker with Deutsche Bank after school in Stuttgart. This made me aware of all the career possibilities available and I came back after university and joined the HR graduate programme. Following the programme I took a role in HR Business Advisory, advising managers and employees in all aspects of the employee lifecycle, an area with a lot of variety.”

After almost three years in the role and regular chats with her manager, Manuela felt like it was the right time to move positions and see the bank from a different perspective. “My manager said, "How about going abroad?" and I thought if there was a chance then I would love to.” That’s how she moved to London. “In all the cities I have worked in so far, I have appreciated the regular exchange with my manager and their interest in my development.”

Growing personally and professionally.

Manuela worked on a one year assignment in London. “It was a really great opportunity to connect with the wider team and bring my whole German experience to share with my London colleagues. I then took what I learnt in London back to Frankfurt. There are already so many opportunities in my current role in which I benefit from the previous change of perspectives.”

“Time flies quickly at Deutsche Bank and it’s never boring. It feels like working for many great employers all at once. I’m always able to learn something new, increase my whole network and knowledge. That’s what makes working at DB so special to me.”
