Investment Bank Apprenticeship Programme
Our Investment Bank Apprenticeship Programme is your gateway to a successful finance career. You’ll learn from people who lead in global finance and develop the mindset and skills to grow in a fast-moving environment
We will provide you with comprehensive training, full financial sponsorship towards an Applied Finance degree at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and professional qualifications such as CISI.
Here, you’ll gain exposure to fascinating projects, building a network that will help you to drive your career forward.
We offer apprenticeships in two areas of the Investment Bank:
- Investment Banking & Capital Markets (IBCM)
- Fixed Income & Currencies (FIC)
Programme and Training Overview
Over this four-year programme, you’ll split your time between studying toward a degree in Applied Finance and get hands-on experience rotating through different teams.
Your tasks might include industry research, company performance monitoring, pricing products for traders, preparing financial data analysis, pitching transactions to the team, participating in client calls, or refining the way we do forecasts.
You’ll also be involved in live deals, exploring new private financing, and lending opportunities, preparing marketing materials for clients, and reviewing deal pricing and structure comparisons.
Here, you’ll feel part of the team from the start, with learning and development opportunities throughout your first year and beyond. You will also be supported by a mentor within the business, in addition to HR and your line manager.
You will learn from the best, evolve professionally as well as personally, and build a firm foundation upon which to specialise later. Whichever path you take, you’ll gain the skills and experience to continue a long-term career with us.

Personal stories

I applied to the Investment Bank Apprenticeship as I felt that the university route wouldn’t suit me, and that I work my best when I learn by getting hands-on experience, so the programme looked like a perfect option! The programme so far has been an intense, exciting experience – everyone I’ve met has been so welcoming and really encouraged me to take an active role. I feel like I’m learning huge amounts whilst also being appreciated as a proper member of the team and the bank, which is incredibly valuable to me.

The opportunity to gain applicable skills, confidence and connections was invaluable to me. Not only would I be working on ground-breaking deals, but I would also be able to apply my skills in a practical manor while gaining the accreditations from a world class, highly specialised and sought after degree program. This cemented my decision that this was the program that would transcend my career and personal development.
Immediately I was welcomed by the team who made it their mission to get me up to speed on exciting projects. Deutsche Bank’s culture is truly a merit to the firm, everybody is respected and valued, while the culture encourages an atmosphere of team success, while making a positive impact for our clients

I applied to the Investment Bank apprenticeship programme because I was keen to get hands on experience of the banking industry and connect what we learn at university to what happens in the financial services industry. My experience of the programme so far has been great, as is being able to learn from professionals in the industry who are really good at what they do. Deutsche Bank’s culture is very welcoming and is a place anyone would love to start their career at!

When I first saw this programme I immediately wanted to apply, being able to experience multiple teams within the Investing Banking division whilst working towards an Applied Finance degree at a highly regarded university was an opportunity I didn't want to miss. Having spent some time on the desk, it's clear there's such an inclusive culture here at Deutsche Bank. The people I have met have made me feel so welcome in such a short space of time, putting the effort in to teach me and make sure I understand. The next four years excite me, and I look forward to seeing myself grow within Deutsche Bank.

I applied to the Investment Bank Apprenticeship programme as it seemed like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience both the world of finance, surrounded by Investment Banking specialists, gaining valuable work experience, and the university experience. The programme is exactly tailored to what I was looking for in Fixed Income & Currencies and can give me a direct entry and career prospects into the sector after I finish my programme.
Deutsche Bank’s culture is very welcoming and inclusive. My experience has been great in connecting with fellow apprentices, senior team members and people from across the bank. Everyone is super approachable, and this has made settling into the job very pleasant.
