Deutsche Bank offers many initiatives where women can lead, have an open exchange of ideas and be mentored.
I’m Sophia, a Java Engineer for Corporate Bank Technology. I work on projects that range from process automation and robotics, which involve building multilingual chatbots on various platforms, including Google Cloud Platform; to making UI and front-end enhancements for reference data platforms and back-end feature building on P&L accounting software using Java and SQL.
If you’re proactive, there are many opportunities at Deutsche Bank. You will be supported with the tools you need to thrive by getting involved in a number of internal and cross-company networks, such as Women in Tech, dbGO (our gender equality network), Women on the Wharf and Women in Banking & Finance. From panel sessions, fireside chats, training programmes, and even participating in the internal runners’ channel, my journey here has been greatly influenced by the inspiration that strong role models provide. I have the freedom and opportunities to shape a career that’s right for me.
- Through the Technology Graduate Programme, I worked in three different infrastructure teams, which helped me understand the bank’s technology functions. It made it easier to connect the dots between various projects and network with managers, peers and business stakeholders.
- Getting involved in training programmes, role openings and interesting side projects is possible thanks to the networks of people around me.
- Deutsche Bank partners with numerous women’s networks that provide a community of influence, mentorship and opportunity for women and allies.
- My mentors at Deutsche Bank have inspired me to be open-minded to opportunities across the bank.
“Given my academic background in modern languages and linguistics, I find it fascinating to observe the parallels between spoken and programming languages. It’s easy to get stuck into the detail, but relating your work back to the wider business context can be equally exciting.”
“As a Java engineer, the most interesting aspect of my role is enhancing my coding skills by contributing to projects through a hands-on approach. To truly understand object-oriented language concepts, I believe it is best to learn by doing.”
“I have benefitted from Deutsche Bank’s celebration of gender diversity, both internally and externally, through a range of women’s networks.”
“What has helped me is finding inspiration through relatable role models. Deutsche Bank encourages women and non-binary leaders through mentorship programmes, which have greatly influenced my career path. When you join us, get involved!”
